Product Development and Research Manager

NORMAN Beauty is seeking a meticulous and aesthetically attuned Product Development Manager to lead the creation and refinement of our color and complexion line. This role is pivotal in shaping the product journey—from early ideation to in-market execution—ensuring each launch reflects our exacting standards for performance, elegance, and conscious formulation.

You will orchestrate internal and external development flows, translating product philosophy into precise briefs, managing timelines, coordinating vendors, and elevating every formula, texture, and shade to meet NORMAN’s refined expectations. An acute sense of beauty, balance, and technical rigor is essential.

This role blends creativity and operational discipline, supporting both new category development and the ongoing refinement of our core offering. It's not just about launching products—it’s about sculpting a lasting, meaningful collection.

Responsibilities

New Product & Shade Development

  • Lead end-to-end development of color products, from concept framing through final batch approval and launch readiness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on briefs, technical evaluations, packaging alignment, and narrative integration.
  • Partner with formulators, contract manufacturers, and material suppliers to ensure stability, safety, sensoriality, and performance are uncompromised.
  • Oversee sample evaluations, focus group coordination, and internal testing with rigor and creative sensitivity.
  • Build shade strategy documents, swatch libraries, and competitive audits that inform and elevate the portfolio.
  • Drive innovation not just for novelty, but for meaning—through quality, texture, and skin compatibility.

Category Maintenance & Strategic Refresh

  • Continuously evaluate and refine the existing range, adjusting formulas, finishes, or shades to remain current, compliant, and resonant.
  • Identify strategic extensions or optimizations for value engineering, packaging improvements, or regional expansion.
  • Maintain precise documentation and batch standard libraries for regulatory, quality, and creative fidelity.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years in beauty product development (color category preferred), with hands-on experience in formula, packaging, and project flow.
  • Deep sensitivity to shade nuances, undertones, texture payoff, and finish in color cosmetics.
  • Strong organization and multitasking capabilities with attention to detail across sensory, technical, and design aspects.
  • Adept at managing multiple development timelines and cross-functional alignment with discipline and tact.
  • Able to clearly communicate between creative, technical, and operational teams.
  • Passionate about building a refined, intentional beauty collection—not just chasing trends.
  • Comfort working with digital tools, including project tracking systems and creative workflows (including openness to advanced creative tech to support development).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred (cosmetic science, product design, chemical engineering, or related).
